Just recently I received a letter from the Canadian Wildlife Service with the number and breed of waterfowl I bagged last year from the wings I had sent in.Always interesting to look at.

There was also a card asking if I would take part in this years survey.I sent it back stating that I would.

Does anyone else here take part in these surveys?I assume that the United States has a survey as well.

I've done the wing survey's in the past but don't any longer. I never got any information back from the USF&WS that I remember or I'd still be doing it. This was 15yrs ago or more so I'm sure they've changed things.....I hope.

I have been sending the wings for a fair number of years now and have always received a letter reporting ,what I had bagged, if it was a male or female and whether it was an adult or immature.

This year I had my first hybred blackduck/mallard.

The wing suvey i have done, had you do 3 years in a row. then they would not use you for 10 years. Thinking about it, it has been about 10 years. I did get a yearly log of each birds age, sex and type after each season. I remember they got a couple young birds wrong

I did one, but it has been years and years ago. Don't remember getting any results back, but then again sometimes I don't remember if I had breakfast, so I may have. :P

But this sure does get me thinking about duck season and I'm getting more eager by the moment. Read somewhere (Refuge, I think) about farmer in SD who had an aerial sprayer spray a field that had been dried out for years and no duck hunting. This year it had lots of water in low spots. Pilot hit I think it was 13 ducks and called it quits and brought in a ground sprayer. Sounds like a pretty good population there and there sure was a lot of water up there in Mar and sounds like there has been a lot more.

Just got done building my one duck call for the year to donate to our HRC retriever club for the fundraiser auction and that also got lots of duck hunting thoughts going! Yep, I'll be ready. I may not have my gear ready or enough reloading done, but I'LL be ready. ;)
